Resolutions
for Amendments to ICAJ’s Bye-Laws
Approved at AGM
Several
resolutions for changes to the ICAJ's
Bye-Laws were placed before members at the
39th Annual General Meeting and Luncheon.
One of the
key resolutions included the adjustment to
the age requirements for members to be
transferred to the category of "members
in retirement." Previously, the
age qualification according to Bye-Law 3
(c) (1) was sixty years old. The
resolution, which was passed, proposed
that the age qualification for members in
retirement be lowered from sixty (60) to
fifty-five (55) in recognition of those
members who may opt for early retirement.
An effort
was also made to facilitate members who
have been removed from the register for
non-payment of fees or who have resigned
and are desirous of reactivating their
membership. Accordingly, Bye-Law 32 (3)
(c) has been amended to allow members who
wish to reactivate their membership within
six months of their removal or resignation
to do so without being required to submit
a formal application.
An
amendment was also proposed for the period
of relevant work experience required for
graduates seeking membership. In order to
facilitate graduates with no work
experience prior to completing their
academic qualifications, it was proposed
and agreed that the period after
completion of the exams within which they
are required to apply for membership
should be changed from thirty-six (36) to
sixty (60) months.
