ICAJ/IDB
Technical Project Update
As part of
its outreach programme, the ICAJ/IDB
Project Unit partnered with the University
of Technology (UTECH) to host a forum at
the University on November 1, 2006.
Approximately
250 students from UTECH and Excelsior
Community College attended the forum.
Presenters were Leighton McKnight, ICAJ
President; Dennis Brown, Chairman,
Accounting Standards Committee, ICAJ;
Compton Rodney, Secretary of the Public
Accountancy Board; George Roper, Senior
Director of Securities at the Financial
Services Commission and Arlene
Spencer-Stephens, Director of Methods,
Analysis and Quality Review at the Bank of
Jamaica.
The ICAJ/IDB
Project Unit will be hosting two outreach
fora in Montego Bay during the first week
of February 2007. One of the outreach will
be with students at Montego Bay Community
College and the other will be held with
members of the Montego Bay Chamber of
Commerce.
The Project
activities have been organized into five
assignments:
(i) Design and Delivery of Training
Programmes
(ii) Building Enforcement and Compliance
Capabilities
(iii) Members' Needs Assessment and
Research
(iv) Updating the Institute's
Website
(v) Strategic Planning for Sustainability.
Consultants
have been selected for all five
contractual assignments and it is
anticipated that execution of the
assignments will commence early in 2007.

suggestions for input into the successful
implementation of activities under the
