ICAJ/IDB Technical Project Update

As part of its outreach programme, the ICAJ/IDB Project Unit partnered with the University of Technology (UTECH) to host a forum at the University on November 1, 2006.

Approximately 250 students from UTECH and Excelsior Community College attended the forum. Presenters were Leighton McKnight, ICAJ President; Dennis Brown, Chairman, Accounting Standards Committee, ICAJ; Compton Rodney, Secretary of the Public Accountancy Board; George Roper, Senior Director of Securities at the Financial Services Commission and Arlene Spencer-Stephens, Director of Methods, Analysis and Quality Review at the Bank of Jamaica.

The ICAJ/IDB Project Unit will be hosting two outreach fora in Montego Bay during the first week of February 2007. One of the outreach will be with students at Montego Bay Community College and the other will be held with members of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce.

The Project activities have been organized into five assignments:
(i) Design and Delivery of Training Programmes
(ii) Building Enforcement and Compliance Capabilities
(iii) Members' Needs Assessment and Research
(iv) Updating the Institute's Website
(v) Strategic Planning for Sustainability.

Consultants have been selected for all five contractual assignments and it is anticipated that execution of the assignments will commence early in 2007.

Members are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions for input into the successful implementation of activities under the Project by emailing tpm@icaj.org or calling the Technical Project Manager, Bevelyn Brodber at 929-9417.
