Honours Graduates of the ICAJ/ACCA Joint
Scheme Examination
The ICAJ,
in collaboration with ACCA, honoured 139
graduates of the Joint Examination Scheme
in pomp and fanfare at a Graduation
Ceremony and Awards function on Saturday,
September 25. The ceremony was held at the
Jamaica Pegasus Hotel
The
graduates were recognized for their
achievements in the December 2003 and June
2004 sittings of the ICAJ/ACCA Joint
Scheme Examination. ICAJ awards were
presented to outstanding students who
excelled at various levels of the Joint
Scheme examination.
No
candidate met the criteria for the Part 1
Examination award. However, the ICAJ recognized
the efforts of Leonie Charlton, a December
2003 student who is employed as a Night
Auditor at the Hilton Kingston Hotel. Miss
Charlton attained the highest average of
56.7%, of all the candidates who sat the
December 2003 examination.
Fiona
Hyman, Audit Senior Accountant at
PricewaterhouseCoopers (Montego Bay) and
Marsha Donald, Senior Auditor at
PricewaterhouseCoopers (Kingston), were
the recipients of the Part 3 Examination
award for December 2003 and June 2004
respectively. Both students attained the
highest average of those completing Part 3
of the ICAJ/ACCA Joint Scheme examination.
Most
outstanding and noteworthy was the record
of performance of Fiona Hyman, who not
only won the Part 3 Examination Award but
was also the recipient of the Sushil Jain,
Raphael Gordon and Deloitte and Touche
Awards.
The Sushil
Jain Award is presented each year to the
youngest graduate completing the final
stage of the examination on the first
attempt.
The
Deloitte and Touche Award is presented to
the Jamaican Student who attains the
highest score of not less that seventy
percent in Paper 3.1 - Audit and Assurance
Services on the first attempt.
The Raphael
Gordon Award is presented to the Jamaican
graduate who attains the highest pass mark
of not less than seventy percent in Paper
3.7 - Strategic Financial Management. The
recipient must be successful in the paper
on the first attempt.
Guest
speaker at the ceremony was Mr. Vishnu
Maharaj, ACCA Council Member.
