Amendments to CPE Requirements
The Council
of the ICAJ has taken a decision to
amend the CPE requirements effective
January 2007.
Furthermore, the requirements will no
longer be referred to as Continuing
Professional Education (CPE) but rather
Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
This is in accordance with IFAC’s
standards on CPD – IES 7 and to ensure
that professional accountants acquire
and maintain the specific capabilities
required to work as competent
professionals.
The
proposed change to CPD will be put
forward for consideration and approval
at the next Annual General Meeting
scheduled for July 25, 2007 at the
Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. In the interim,
the requirements will be referred to as
CPE/CPD.
Members
were previously required to satisfy 35
hours per year (21 structured and 14
non-structured). The requirements have
now been increased to 40 hours per year
(21 verifiable and 19 non-verifiable).
Visit our
website at
www.icaj.org, to view examples of
CPE/CPD courses and for a copy of the
