Objectives Print E-mail

The objectives of the Institute are to:

  • Promote and increase the knowledge, skill and proficiency of its members and students
  • Regulate the discipline and professional conduct of members and students
  • Promote and protect the welfare and interest of the Institute and the Accountancy profession both in Jamaica and abroad, and make provision for the training, education and examination of persons engaging or intending to engage in the profession
  • Do all such things as are incidental to realizing the objectives of the profession.

Thirty-six years ago, the Institute was a fledgling body, operating in an environment defined largely by national imperatives, today that body has become the corporate voice and point of contact for its members.

Of its achievements, the ICAJ prides itself on its commitment to transparency and continues to hold its banner high as a body synonymous with integrity and sound professional conduct. And now, after a generation of solid success the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica, now stands ideally poised to lead the profession of Accountancy into a new era of global challenges.
