INVESTING IN FOREIGN CURRENCY OR JAMAICAN CURRENCY

The question as to whether or not one should invest in foreign or Jamaican currency is being asked against the background of a huge increase in demand for foreign currency over the past two (2) years and what some economists describe as the "slow dollarisation of the economy".

Demand for foreign currency has increased by 32% over the previous year with average foreign currency sales in US$ terms increasing by $2.3 billion from $7.3 billion in 2004 to $9.6 billion in 2005. Note that in 2003 the increase was only 9% moving from $6.7 billion to $7.3 billion in 2004 .... more>>
