A
SENSE OF HISTORY The
Coat of Arms was chosen as
the Institute's logo after
much deliberation for over
two years (1965 – 1966).
The Coat of Arms consists
of a Shield surmounted by
a Crest. Beneath, the
motto of the Institute was
inscribed in a scroll. The
Crest, which is symbolic
of Jamaica, is a crocodile
on a piece of log.
The shield is divided into
two sections: the upper
contains three

first time membership pins which are
available free of cost to members.
The gold pins are for members in the
category of Fellow and the silver
pins are for members in the category
of Associate.

IFRS 7,
Financial Instruments: Disclosures is
effective for annual accounting
periods beginning on or after January
1, 2007. Hence, IFRS 7 disclosures
will be mandatory for the upcoming
December 31, 2007 year-ends with
comparatives required in respect of
the previous year. The standard was
actually issued over two years ago in
August 2005…
